Special Events

Serving in communities opens up many doors to relationship building through special events. At the Wolhurst Retirement Mobile Home Community in Littleton, CO, the place we’ve chosen to serve TCH caters over 250 residents at the annual Christmas brunch where grandparents, parents, and kids gather to sing carols, eat together, and join to make the season special for the residents.  We are also involved in men’s and women’s groups to offer many special projects throughout the year, because it is through those that we come to realize their needs.

This requires creativity, because every community is different. The needs of the people in different locations and within different demographics vary widely, and this means opportunities to be highly inventive in coming up with different ways to serve. For example, we teamed with the local water board to install 300 new water-saver toilets for Wolhurst Christmasthe residents in the spring of 2010. This helped them save on their water bills, and also benefitted the environment. We started car washes and car clinics that brought people together, and saved them expenses that many could not afford. We provide trips to the store and to doctors for those who no longer drive, and recently began snow removal services. There are so many ways people can be served and the love of Jesus can be manifested in simple, cost effective ways. The only barriers are our passion and our resolve.
